This morning, while doing a little blog hopping,

we spied a fabulous French Cart in Joni Webb's kitchen of Cote de Texas!

At first we thought it might be disguising a her waste basket,

but, with a closer look, it had a lovely linen liner.

Rolling French Cart ~ $285 ~

We thought the waste basket idea was pretty clever so

we rolled ours right to the kitchen!

This cart could easily be lined with fabric to match

a nursery to hold toys, roll to the laundry room,

or hold your recyclables!

While browsing through one of our many antique magazines,

Rooney ran across an advertisement, RGL Antiques in New Jersey, picturing

an amazing display of an 1875 Noah's Ark with over 300 paired animals.

We thought that it was a fabulous way to display the folk art.

Our Noah's Ark doesn't have such a large flock,

but would look beautiful displayed as art.

When you look around the shop, you'll find animals all sizes and prices.

Larry Elder’s kind invitation to showcase several of her period pieces
alongsidethe dynamic work of Carl Plansky at Elder’s show,
Retrospective of Paintings ofCarl Plansky,
being featured at Atherton Mill on December 2nd.

Rooney Robison Antiques, a neighbor of Elder Gallery, islocated at 1719 South Boulevard. RooneyRobison, like Elder, has an eye for beautiful collectibles and is eager to showhow her love for enchanting English and French antiques can provide depth andinterest when combined with any art, especially abstract oils, charcoals, andpastels. She draws a parallel to the twoworlds when she says, “A beautiful piece of furniture should say the same thingas a painting. It should speak to a timeand place, a thoughtful attention to detail, and it should get prettier everytime you look at it. Hopefully it evokesan image in one’s eye and heart that is lasting.”

Rooney has selected an interesting range of period pieces,

both English and French, to compliment the dynamic works of Plansky:

The Red Sofa: A true collectors dream, the chinoiserie redsofa is a “one of” in dealer speak. TheQueen Anne style back provides drama to the always elegant chinoiseriedetailing on the legs and base. Withthis mid 19^th century English Sofa, covered in white duck, Robisonmakes a bold statement about blending the old and the new. Paired alongside the sofa are a regency setof nesting tables, also chinoiserie and also imperial red. Both pieces are unique in their own right,but paired with Plansky’s Flower in Redare provocative.

Demi-lune ServingPiece, 1860: The demi-lune is a musthave for any collector, and provides great interest with it’s famous half moonshape. What makes this chest especiallyunique is it’s modern sensibility, providing wonderful storage for any diningroom essential. With cabinets anddrawers, the chest gives adequate balance to a room and ideal for artworkabove. Fruitwood inlay further enhancesthis lovely mahogany piece.

Not pictured, however also displayed with the collection:

Irish ChippendaleCarver (from a set of 14): This “carver”, also described as a dining roomchair with arms, is large anddramatic. The intricate woodwork, not unlikethe elaborate brush strokes of Plansky’s art, shows masterful detail. The hues of the wood speaks to the richtradition of the Irish chair.

Putti on Stand: A favorite of Robison’s, this angel, mostlikely graced an alter from an English cathedral. The sculptural element speaks to the artisansof the day, an art form largely lost.

Architect’s Table andChairs: Crafted of glass, steel and wood, this oversize drafting table isFrench as are the chairs. Ideal for anoffice, the table provides a flat surface to work on and stools that can beadjusted.

“Copy of a ZincWindow” Mirror: done in wood.

Metal Wine Dispenser:This barrel shaped wine dispenser pre-dates glass jars or jugs used to storewine. This dispenser would have storedwine for purchase; buyers would bring their pottery jugs daily from home tofill. This dispenser would serve as agreat ice bucket, and would be an ideal gift for any “wine” aficionado.

With the Royal Wedding of William & Kate fast approaching,

we're all feeling like we need a little royal treatment.

This article on The Royal Wedding Bone China added to our excitement!

Of course there are commemorative collections (some good, some bad)

being created and sold for this memorable occasion,

...but we're feeling especially proud of our porcelains today...

and need a reason to be an early riser Friday morning,

It's hard to pick just one!

...They look beautiful in groupings...

This one, topped with a Sea Fan, might be our favorite

with it's bottle full of sand and the antique

trinket adorning the bottle neck.

Artie said this was his favorite too and he had a hard

time letting us have it!

benchmade piece for the Mint's Room to Bloom's silent auction.

Adams Revival Center Table, circa 1820-1880, England

(67"long x 30"wide x 31.5"high)

retail value $7,975

This "serving" table is on the mark. Noteworthy tables of this period include reeding or fluted legs, neoclassical decorative motifs, and especially rare examples were painted. This piece has all of these details and more. The mahogany inlaid top is choice and the apron features a carved guilloche pattern which speaks to today's collector. This type of table predates the beloved sideboard.

Antique Giltwood and Crystal Candelabra, 18th Century, France

(33"tall x 13"wide)

retail value $11,800

These candelabra, the French term for a pair of illuminated candlesticks, are nothing if not dramatic. This pair is elegant, gracious and evokes a sophisticated mood. The glassworks, cut and etched carefully to reflect the candle light's prism, would have been placed in front of a mirror, much like ours is here today. Combining the reflection of the mirror, the cut glass and the flickering flame would propel magical lighting into the room and among the guests. Such soft lighting could only make the evening more charming.

This benchmade mirror is handpainted in French, 18th Century style. It is a perfect reproduction to mix with period pieces to complete this elegant look.
